Porsche’s global testing of the all-electric Cayenne is ramping up, with a near-production prototype recently making headlines at the historic Shelsley Walsh hill climb. As part of a filming project, the SUV joined British Hillclimb Championship entrants to showcase its performance and everyday usability.
TAG Heuer Porsche Formula E Team driver Gabriela Jílková piloted the camouflaged Cayenne Electric up the narrow, 914-meter course, beating the previous SUV record by over four seconds on her first run.
Equipped with Porsche Active Ride—a future production feature—the prototype maintained a level body through aggressive braking, steering, and acceleration. It also delivered blistering speed: hitting the 60-foot mark in just 1.94 seconds, a feat matched only by purpose-built single-seaters with slicks. Remarkably, the Cayenne Electric did it on standard summer tires.
